   Social Inequalities, Social Differentiation and Stratification

  •  The locations of Stratification and Differentiation and Social Inequalities  within the new Specifications vary considerably as between the AQA Specification  the OCR Specification and the WJEC Eduqas Specifications.
  • In the new AQA Specifications  Stratification and Differentiation are relevant to the analysis of several of the topics covered in the AS course and the first year of the Advanced Level course and students may study Stratification and Differentiation as an option within Topics in Sociology in the second year of the Advanced level Course.
  • In the new OCR specification Students will  cover as compulsory topics  Research Methods and Researching Social Inequalities and Understanding Social Inequalities in the AS course and the first year of the Advanced Level course.
  • The WJEC Eduqas examination board  has  provided separate Specifications  for Welsh and Non-Welsh centres. There are some variations in the organisation and content of these Specifications but in each case Social Stratification and Differentiation is studied as a compulsory topic in Year 2  
  •  Social Inequality issues are also relevant to several of the topics covered in the second year of the Advanced level course.
  • Please note that although my documents on  Stratification and Differentiation and Social Inequalities certainly do take account of different theoretical approaches and I do provide some information on the measurement of patterns of inequality  I do not  currently provide any information specifically on individual Research Methods related to Social Inequality issues but students can consult their textbooks and other Sociology websites for this information.
